*** Deforestation means cutting down trees in large number. The causes of deforastation are many. People cut down trees in large number to draw quick profit from them. To get more space for cultivation people are deforesting. Besides these, the lucrative price of wood also allures people to cut trees This destruction distrubs our ecological balance. The existance of animals are going to be threatened . Due to deforestation carbon dioxide is increasing worldwide. As a result, the world is becoming warmer . The sea level is rising and many parts of the world is going to be engulfed by the sea in recent future. On the other hand, new areas of the world are turning into deserts as an immediate effect of deforestation. We may face the problem of flood, soil erosion and drought etc. We can take many measures to prevent deforestation. Tree plantation programme should be expanded to the remote corner of the country. The government should make T.V. and radio programme on the subject of afforestation. The common people should be informed of the danger of deforestation.
